Open market operations are carried out on the intervention markets and play an important role in Banco de Cabo Verde’s monetary policy. They aim to control short-term interest rates, manage liquidity in the market, and signal the monetary policy stance.

The operation consists of weekly interventions, through the issuance of Monetary Regularization Bills at a fixed rate (policy rate), and interventions with Monetary Intervention Bills, with maturities of up to one year, at the market rate, as a way of monitoring the liquidity in the banking system.
